Terms ofService
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Ghost Detector (the "app," "we," "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. It's entertainment, not a paranormal instrument
Ghost Detector is an augmented-reality game. It uses real iPhone camera and sensor data for gameplay and atmosphere, and ghost characters, dialogue, EMF-style readings, and "sightings" are fictional and generated for entertainment. Nothing in the app is a scientific claim about paranormal activity, and you shouldn't rely on it as one.
2. Who can use the app
Ghost Detector is intended for a general audience. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you should have a parent or guardian review these Terms, and any in-app purchases should be made with their knowledge and, where applicable, their consent (App Store parental controls and Ask to Buy apply as Apple designs them to).
3. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Ghost Detector on Apple devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial entertainment, subject to these Terms and Apple's standard licensed-application end-user terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
4. Batteries, purchases, and Ghost Hunter Pro
The app uses a soft in-game currency ("Batteries") to power the scanner. You can earn Batteries through normal play and passive regeneration, or purchase additional Batteries and an auto-renewing subscription ("Ghost Hunter Pro") through the App Store. Regarding purchases:
- All purchases are billed and processed by Apple through your App Store account, under Apple's own terms and payment methods.
- Ghost Hunter Pro is an auto-renewing subscription (weekly or yearly, as offered at time of purchase) that renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription any time in your Apple ID account settings — we cannot cancel or refund purchases directly, since Apple handles billing.
- Batteries and battery packs are consumed by gameplay and have no cash value; they can't be exchanged, transferred, or redeemed for money.
- Prices, battery costs, and what Ghost Hunter Pro includes may change over time as the app evolves; we'll reflect current terms in the app and on the App Store listing.
- Refunds are handled by Apple according to Apple's own refund policies — we don't have the ability to issue refunds ourselves.
5. Prank mode
The app includes an optional "prank mode" designed to be handed to another person for a lighthearted jump-scare. You're responsible for using it appropriately and with people who'd welcome it — we aren't responsible for anyone's reaction to a prank you choose to run, and prank mode should not be used in any way that could startle someone in an unsafe situation (for example, while driving or operating machinery).
6. AI-generated and scripted content
Ghost dialogue and biographies may be generated on-device using Apple Intelligence where available, or drawn from authored scripted content otherwise. This content is fictional, intended to be playful rather than frightening, and not reviewed by a human before being shown to you in the moment it's generated. If a ghost's reply ever seems inappropriate, you can end the conversation at any time, and we'd appreciate you telling us about it (see Contact below).
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the app's assets or code except as permitted by applicable law;
- Use the app to harass, frighten, or deceive someone in a way that could reasonably cause distress or harm;
- Interfere with the app's purchase or entitlement systems, or attempt to obtain Batteries or Ghost Hunter Pro access without paying through the App Store;
- Use the app in any way that violates Apple's App Store terms or applicable law.
8. Intellectual property
The app, including its artwork, characters, writing, sounds, and code, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Your license under these Terms doesn't transfer any ownership to you.
9. Third-party services
The app relies on Apple (App Store, ARKit, Speech, Apple Intelligence) and RevenueCat (subscription and purchase management) to function. Your use of the app is also subject to Apple's own terms as the platform provider. See our Privacy Policy for what these services can see.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device or sensor configuration.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months before the claim arose.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your license to use the app if you violate these Terms. You can stop using the app, and cancel any subscription, at any time through your Apple ID account settings.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the app changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
